what we do

Promoting health, wellness, and an active lifestyle for the Mattapan community.

Why MFFC?

Here in Mattapan, we face significant health challenges. Our founder, Vivien Morris, created MFFC as a grassroots organization to provide solutions for the community, by the community. Speaking to Mattapan residents, MFFC identified 5 core issues that we seek to resolve: environmental inequities, lack of healthy food access, lack of youth engagement opportunities, feeling unheard, and limited physical activity opportunities. We created 5 focus areas to address each issue and bring solutions to Mattapan that residents have advocated for. So, what does it look like when a community leads? It looks like MFFC. It looks like family.

Who we serve

MFFC serves the community of Mattapan but all neighbors are welcome to participate in every event, service, and program. We have special community programs focused on seniors, youth, and families with children. We serve about 7,000 community members annually and we want to increase that number. All of our activities and community events are free and open to all!
